Premium funding and the cash-flow conversation.
Help clients weigh both sides of a premium-funding decision: the effect of paying upfront on their business, and the cost and commitment of an agreed repayment plan.
Start with the client’s timing.
A client’s insurance renewal can arrive alongside payroll, tax, supplier payments or a busy trading period. Even a business with the capacity to pay upfront may want to consider the effect on cash available for those other commitments.
You can bring that timing into the funding discussion. An eligible premium can be settled through a funding arrangement, with the business repaying the loan by agreed instalments. The cash demand changes shape; the repayment obligation remains.
Make the full commitment clear.
When you discuss a quote with a client, put the instalment in context. The total amount payable, interest, applicable fees, payment dates and agreement obligations all matter to the decision.
The value of preserving working capital depends on the client’s cash position, expected receipts and other commitments. Help the client identify the questions that need answering, and involve the appropriate adviser where advice is needed. Funding will not be the right answer in every case.
Three questions for your client discussion.
What would paying upfront mean for the client?
Establish how the premium due date falls alongside the client’s other business commitments.
Can the client sustain the repayments?
Discuss the agreed dates and amounts in the context of the client’s expected cash flow, including quieter trading periods.
Is the funding commitment understood?
Help the client identify questions about costs, policy changes, cancellation, refunds and missed payments.
Bring the case to our broker team.
Your knowledge of the client helps give the funding request context. Bring the premium details, timing requirements and any questions to Clearmatch. We can explain the process and the information needed for a quote or assessment.
Keep the quote and agreement central to the discussion so the client understands the proposed commitment. If circumstances change after funding begins, our team can help you identify the appropriate next step or client support route.
Use this as a discussion framework.
This is general information for brokers, not financial or insurance advice. Each client should review the specific quote and agreement and obtain appropriate advice on their circumstances.
